KB 340103

KB 340103: Reports fail to open due to error accessing data source

It is possible when loading our Audit Collection Service (ACS) Reports or after an SP1 upgrade that the report data source does not get configured correctly or is overwritten resulting in failures when trying to run reports or subscriptions.

Issue: Report Data Source not configured correctly

Symptoms: Errors associated with accessing 'SCDW' data source

Cause: Miss-configuration during installation or failure, SP1 upgrade overwrites SSRS

Scope: Local and Remote report installations, mostly noticed with Remote Report Server Installations and SP1 upgrades

Product/s: Audit Collection Base Reporting, Audit Collection Compliance Reporting, Audit Collection Archiver Historical Reports

Resolution

Reconfigure Report Data Source as needed

General Data Source Configuration

  1. On the Report Server, open the data source found in the folder of the report attempting to be reviewed. By default, the Secure Vantage datasources begin with 'SCDW' + Report Package Name, ie 'SCDW Forensic Analyzer'.

  2. Verify the information in the connect string is correct.

Remote Report Servers

If the Report Server is a Remote Installation of Reporting Services (the Database Engine and Report Server are on different computers), make the following changes to the data source:

  1. Under “Connect Using”, select “Credentials stored securely in the report server”

  2. Enter an Account/Password combination which has permissions to the database tables and views.

  3. Select “Impersonate the authenticated user after a connection has been made to the data source
